Inside Our Small Atelier

August 2026 · The Linen & Light Team

Every piece we make passes through a small number of hands, and I like it that way. We're not a large operation — by choice — because staying small is the only way I know to keep the quality where I want it.

Each collection starts with fabric, not a sketch. I choose the linen first, feel how it moves and drapes, and let that decide what the silhouette should be. From there, patterns are cut and sewn in small runs, checked by hand at every stage — the kind of attention that gets lost once a production run gets too large to actually look at closely.

Why we chose to stay small

Staying small means slower growth, and it means we sell out of things and can't always restock right away. It also means I can still tell you exactly who made your dress, and why we chose the buttons we did. That trade feels obvious to me — I'd rather make less, and stand fully behind everything we do make.
