The Case for Buying Fewer, Better Clothes

A cheap piece of clothing is rarely actually cheap. Worn a handful of times before it loses its shape, it ends up costing more per wear than something built to last a decade — and it costs the planet more too.

I think about cost-per-wear more than price tags. A well-made linen dress, worn for years, works out cheaper than a fast-fashion version replaced every season — and it looks better doing it. Natural fibres, reinforced seams, buttons chosen to outlast the garment around them: none of that is expensive to do, it's just slower.

Opting out, quietly

I'm not interested in chasing trend cycles. I'd rather make pieces that don't look dated in two years, so you're not replacing your wardrobe every season — you're adding to it, occasionally, with things you actually reach for. That's the whole idea behind Linen & Light: fewer pieces, worn more, kept longer.
